While using the software for this course, your computer’s keyboard language must be set to English. If needed, please follow these instructions to change your keyboard language.
Go to the installation page for Spyder.
Under the heading for Downloading and installing, click on the link for Windows Installer.
Double-click the icon for the downloaded file. This will start up an installer program.
Important: If you receive a message indicating that Windows is preventing the app from starting, click the link for More info and then click the Run anyway button.
If necessary, give the installer app permission to make changes to your device.
You should be able to use all of the default settings that the installer gives you.
Wait for the installer to finish and then close it. You can now delete the installer program.
In your start menu, you should now be able to find the Spyder application.
Once you have installed Spyder, you must configure it by following the instructions found here.
Occasionally, we need one of our Python files to import code from another Python file. To ensure that Python is able to do this, you should take the following steps:
Use the Start button to open the Settings app.
Maximize the Settings window as needed, and use the link in the left-hand navigation bar to navigate to Privacy & security.
Scroll down to File system and click on that bar.
Click Let apps access your file system.
