Undergraduate Education
CS Major and Minor Concentrations
Undergraduate computer science majors and minors engage in the breadth and
rigor of a liberal arts education, which makes our students well-rounded and
adaptable in a fast-changing world. Undergraduate CS concentrators gain a
foundational knowledge of computer science, while also taking elective courses
in computer science.
Combined Bachelors and Masters Degree in CS
The four-and-a-half-year combined BA/MA program is designed for highly qualified
students. Students apply during their junior year and must have a cumulative
grade point average of 3.5 in computer science with an overall average of
3.0.
Degree Requirements
Area Emphasis within Computer Science
Elective courses (both for the CS concentration and other BA programs)
are selected in consultation with a faculty advisor to best suit a
student's interests and goals. If the student desires, such electives
can be chosen with an emphasis on a particular area of computer
science, for instance:
Admissions
Undergraduate Admissions to Boston University is organized by the Office of Admissions. Please apply
there.
Declaring a Concentration in CS Complete the Declaration
or Change of Major/Minor Concentration Form (CS code is 0701,
Math-CS 1721). It is important to declare your CS concentration early
so that we can reach you right away and make you feel at home in the
Department's community of students, faculty, staff, and
graduates. If you are potentially interested in computer science as
a major or minor concentration, you are encouraged contact Professor Leo Reyzin, Director of Undergrdaute
Studies for the CS department.
