New Honorary Society: CAS College Scholars

        The COLLEGE SCHOLARS is a program that will replace and expand the Distinguished Sophomores program to include exceptional students who will be sophomores, juniors, and seniors during AY 2008-2009. Membership in the College Scholars will be a prerequisite for receiving a CAS Merit Scholarship. Requirements for the program include the following:

1. Full-time sophomore, junior, or senior in the College of Arts and Sciences during the 2008-2009 academic year;
2. A distinguished record of academic achievement in CAS; GPA is an important, but not the only, measure of such achievement; students will be elected to the College Scholars if, in the judgment of the awards committee, they are among the top 5% of students in their class year in terms of academic distinction;
3. Students who will be Juniors and Seniors during AY 08-09 must arrange for a faculty recommendation.
