Due to the growing popularity of the World Wide Web and the subsequent
increase in WWW related network traffic, much research is being done
to find ways to improve WWW performance. In particular, [1] and [4]
have proposed server based prefetching strategies to reduce WWW access
time (client side latency). Client based prefetching was also
proposed in [3], so that
quantitative measurements could be made to evaluate it's performance.
The prefetching algorithm in question is based on analysis of
individual users' access histories, and finding correlations between
URLs (Uniform Resource Locator) based on timing and frequency of
access.
