Conference registration fees: ----------------------------- Registration for the conference and workshops is through the on-line services of the IEEE: https://shockley.computer.org/conferences/li01.nsf Charges are indicated here for information only: register on-line at the IEEE site. LICS Registration Fees: Received by May 25, 2000 Received after May 15, 2000 Member* $300 $360 Non-Member $375 $450 Student $125 $150 *Member rate applies to members of IEEE Computer Society, ACM, ASL, or EATCS, as well as to members of the Program and Organizing Committees. Registration package includes copy of proceedings, entry to reception (Friday evening), lunches (Saturday, Sunday, Monday), and banquet (Monday evening). Workshop registration: ---------------------- There is a workshop registration fee of $50 for attending any and all workshops. When you register for the conference with IEEE, please indicate which workshops you intend to attend in part or in full. This will give us a good headcount. You can in fact attend the workshops without attending the conference. Complexity, Logic, and Computation: A Symposium in Honor of Albert Meyer (organizer: Jon Riecke) Full Completeness and Full Abstraction (organizers: Samson Abramsky and Phil Scott) Logic and Learning (organizers: Roni Khardon and Gyury Turan) Satisfiability Testing: Theory and Applications (Organizers: Henry Kautz and Bart Selman) Extra page charges: ------------------- If you are presenting a paper at the conference which is appearing in the proceedings, you are allowed a 10 page maximum. You may include up to another 2 pages at an additional charge of $100 to cover printing expenses. Enter this during your registration with IEEE. Accomodations: -------------- Participants have the option of staying on- or off-campus, where the former is appreciably cheaper. Parking is available on-campus. On-campus accomodations: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Conference participants may stay at the a new high-rise dormitory residence at 10 Buick Street, right off Commonwealth Avenue, which opened this year. Single rooms are organized in suites with shared bathroom facilities. The cost is $50 per night; conference housing runs Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights. Extended stay (Wednesday, Thursday night before the conference; Tuesday night after the conference) is possible for workshop participants. The room rental charge is per person, based on single occupancy. To reserve a room, you must download the ON-CAMPUS REGISTRATION FORM (in .pdf) format available at http://www.cs.bu.edu/faculty/mairson/LICS01/roomreg.pdf (see also the home page for the conference to download this form) and send it with a check payable to "Boston University (LICS 2001 Housing)", addressed to the local administrator for LICS: Cynthia Brossman Learning Resource Network 590 Commonwealth Avenue Boston, Massachusetts 02215 phone (617) 353-7021 fax (617) 353-6062 email cab@bu.edu The completed form and check must be received by May 18, 2001. Any receipt after that date will not be honored, because we must provide an early, accurate head count to the campus housing services. The on-campus residence is about a 10-15 minute walk to the main conference site. There is also direct public transportation along Commonwealth Avenue; use the Boston University West stop on the MBTA Green Line (B train). On-campus parking: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Limited parking is available on campus. The on-campus room reservation form includes a section where you can specify parking requirements. Again, this must be received by May 18, sent to the address above. These reserved parking authorizations will be available at on-site registration. Off-campus accomodations: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ An alternative is to stay at one of two local hotels where reduced rates are available for conference participants. You should contact the hotels directly. Hotels reservations have been made for the dates of the conference, but not for the duration of the workshops. You should plan accordingly: hotel space may still be available, but not necessarily at the rates we have negotiated for the conference. Buckminster Hotel (reference "BU IEEE 2001", reservation #67849) 645 Beacon Street Boston, MA 02215 phone: (617) 236-7050 fax: (617) 262-0068 20 rooms have been reserved at $125. and 5 rooms at $149. per night, for the evenings of June 15--18. Reservations must be made by May 16. Howard Johnson Hotel (reference "BU Computer Science", reservation K00013-59) 575 Commonwealth Avenue Boston, MA 02215 phone: (617) 267-3100 (800) 695-8284 (reservations) fax: (617) 424-1045 20 rooms are reserved at $145. per night for the evenings of June 15--18. 30 rooms are reserved at $145. per night for the evenings of June 15--17. Reservations must be made before May 25. The Buckminster and Howard Johnson hotels are next door to the main conference site. Holiday Inn 1200 Beacon Street, Brookline MA 02246 phone (617) 277-1200 (800) 465-4329 fax (617) 734-6991 50 rooms are reserved at $179. per night for the evenings of June 15--18. Reservations must be made before May 15. This hotel is more upscale than the other residences and is about a 20 minute walk from the main conference site, or a short ride on public transportation. Getting to Boston University: ----------------------------- Most people travelling by air will arrive at Logan Airport. A taxi to Boston University from the airport will cost about $25. A viable alternative, if you do not have too much baggage, is public transportation: there are airport shuttle buses to the MBTA Airport station, and it's about a 30 minute train ride to Kenmore Square. This compares favorably to getting stuck in the Sumner Tunnel or Southeast Expressway, thanks to Boston's famous Central Artery, a.k.a. "Big Dig" project (thankfully not on the LICS budget). If you are taking the MBTA to the university dormitory facility, you should take the Green Line (B train) and get off at the Boston University West station.
