Expectations of CS Graders

Thank you for agreeing to serve as a grader in the Department of Computer Science. Graders are important contributors to the departmental teaching mission. The following information is generally common-sense, but provided mainly for completeness.

  1. Graders are to keep individual students' grades and performance on assignments in strictest confidence. Such information cannot be discussed with anyone except the course instructor or teaching fellow.
  2. Graders are to bring any potential or perceived conflict of interest to the attention of the instructor immediately.
  3. Graders are to provide feedback in grading that is courteous and constructive. Students should feel encouraged to learn and grow through the feedback given on their course work.
  4. Graders are to carry out their assigned duties in a timely fashion.

Historically, the majority of graders have done an excellent job! In the rare case when a grader violates the above expectations he or she will be terminated.
