An Example Session with TOMUS (Intro)


TOMUS is Boston University's online catalog system that allows you to look up material available at BU libraries. It can be a valuable tool in finding library resources. It assists the user in looking up material by subject, title, author, etc....

We start up TOMUS by typing at the prompt:

% telnet library

After we perform the telnet command, it will ask us for a login name. Since we are not really logging into a machine where we have an account, you do not type in your login name and password; instead, we type in the word library and we will not be asked for a password:

Once we do so, TOMUS may ask us what type of terminal we are on (see Terminal Setting). Otherwise, we should see TOMUS' main screen...
