One of the sources of pictures on the Internet are
newsgroups. The program we have used to read newsgroups is
tin. Newsgroups, however, are traditionally a textual
medium and pictures contained within newsgroups are encoded in
a special format. This online lecture presents an example of
decoding pictures in newsgroups using tin.
