Decoding Pictures from Newsgroups using Tin (Page 9)


Now, we should view the picture. To do so we'll use another program, so let's suspend tin by typing Ctrl-Z. It should say....

and now we are back at the prompt.

Let's make sure the picture got saved. Tin saves stuff not is your current or home directory, but in a subdirectory named News. First, let's go to that directory...

% cd ~/News

and see if it is there...

% ls
OPUS105.GIF

To view a picture, we use the xv command...

% xv OPUS105.GIF &

and the picture should appear on the screen like this...

When you are done looking at the picture, close the xv window.
