NSF-CRI'07 Breakout Session
June 5, 2007
Widening the Pipeline for
Underserved Populations
Abstract
This breakout session will
consider two issues: 1. Successful (and unsuccessful) models of
interactions between minority-serving institutions and (majority)
research institutions. Perspectives will be given from both traditional
majority institutions and minority-serving institutions. 2. Successful
models (there are lots of unsuccessful ones) for widening the pipeline
of minority graduate students completing graduate degrees, especially
the Ph.D. Perspectives will be given by individuals from the programs
(both majority and minority institutions) with successes, and (presumed)
barriers also will be discussed.
