Margrit is my academic mother who touched me by her warmth, caring, guidance, and belief in my potential. She
created an environment where I have the freedom to explore, yet she was always there to provide a steady hand
when I needed it most. I always remember the hours we spent together building technology for people with motion
impairments. We were everywhere - at the caring center, her office, and her home - working on the assistive
interfaces. Her deep thoughtfulness and meticulous ways of working are and will always be an inspiration to me.
Some of my most cherished memories are more than the academic journey: she always filled her place with
laughter, where she brought her students together and made us feel like a family. After graduation, our
relationship continues with many joyful conversations. We talked about things we both love: music, roses, birds,
board games, etc. She is way more than an advisor to me.
She didn't just teach me how to be a researcher; she nurtured my growth as a person. I am heartbroken by her
loss, but her light will never fade, on me, and her many other students guided by her.
I will always love you, Margrit.
