Dave -- Rui did respond to your message. I quickly scanned his response
this morning, which was addressed to you only, not to the class list.
(Unfortunately I erased it already.) Without waiting for Rui's answer
again, you seem to refer to a particular method of carrying out
substitution -- that's OK and you can choose any method that works
(hopefully without errors!).
